Easton brewery Weyerbacher took home Best Barrel-Aged Beer of the Year and Best Belgian-Style Beer of the Year at the 3rd annual Philly Beer Scene Awards earlier this week.

The awards, hosted by Philly Beer Scene magazine, pit eastern PA breweries against each other in a variety of categories.  Local beer fans and craft beer industry professionals vote on the winners, and on Tuesday at World Cafe Life in Philadelphia the winners were crowned.  Weyerbacher’s Merry Monks, which won Best Belgian-Style Beer in 2010, 2012, and 2013, repeated again this year.  The 9.3% brew is a Belgian triple ale that has long been a part of Weyerbacher’s flagship line.  Heresy, the brewery’s bourbon barrel aged Old Heather imperial stout, took the prize for top barrel-aged beer.
