Musikfest Picks for Day 5, August 5th

by theelvee_w2oe3m

Independence Driveperforming from 4pm to 5pm at the TD Community Stage
This local group fuses reggae and rock into a melody-driven sound that’s less punky and more poppy than Sublime

Seamus Kennedyperforming from 5pm to 6:30pm at Liederplatz
This hilarious, PG-13 comedic Irish performer has been around a bunch, but if you enjoy the act or haven’t caught him yet, he’s a must-see.  Blending drinking songs, traditional Celtic music, and Irish humor, Seamus never fails to get a crowd laughing or singing along.

The Ballroom Thievesperforming from 5pm to 6:30pm at Americaplatz
These guys sound like country for people that don’t like country – their upbeat and folky sound melds with an indie singer/songwriter vibe for a truly special sound.

Wild Childperforming from 7pm to 8:30pm at Americaplatz
Airy melodies over piano and violin lines are reminiscent of great indie pop rockers The Hush Sound.

The Boogie Wonder Bandperforming from 8:30pm to 11pm at Festplatz
The funkiest, most disco-loving band in all the land, the Boogie Wonder Band is party central.  With crazy costumes and a very solid set of musicians, the Boogie Wonder Band gets crowds into the music like few others can.

Traum Diggsperforming from 10pm to 11pm at Plaza Tropical
Diggs makes the picks not only because as a rapper/R&B artist he’s in an under-represented category of music at Musikfest, but also because his single “Sax Fifth Avenue Flow” has a great sound to it.

Slingshot Dakotaperforming from 11pm to 12am at the TD Community Stage
This Bethlehem indie rock duo have been performing at dates across the country for some time now, and are getting more and more press on places like AbsolutePunk.  See them now before they get big.
