We first reported on the Bethlehem Food Co-Op late last year, summing up the first meeting where the public was introduced to the idea of a co-op in downtown Bethlehem. The second meeting for the co-op will take place on Thursday, January 19th at the Sand Island Ice House. First off, let me say (as I have many times before) that the Ice House is awesome, under-utilized, and a very cool place. If you’ve never seen it this would be a good opportunity to give it a look as well as participate in the co-op happenings. Anyways, from the looks of the agenda the group will start organizing groups and committees as well as set in place plans for a feasibility study (including surveys of Bethlehem neighborhoods), business model research, financial groundwork, media campaigns, and membership structures. At the end of the meeting an official co-op name will be selected as well. You can currently vote on favorite names over at their message boards.
