Appetizers for August 22nd, 2011

A Playboy star was apparently at Level 3 in Melt over the weekend with Marco Andretti and deemed it “Lamest club I’ve EVER been 2”.  This should be of no shock to anyone.

Bolete is having a farmer dinner series and their first featured farm is Liberty Gardens.  It will take place on September 14th and will be $55 per person.

March Fourth Marching Band, one of our stand-out favorites from Musikfest, put up a minute long vlog from their stop.

The Lehigh Valley Brewfest apparently is no more.  It’s now being replaced by something called “The Pairings” which will feature food, wine, and beer.  Instead of being in a field it will be in the Bank Street Annex in Easton.  [Side note: We think this is a super weak move.  The brewfest was awesome outside, even if it was raining.  It worked great last year and the year before.  The Bank St Annex becomes unbearable during huge food events.  Add lots of alcohol into the mix and you’ve got a recipe for hating life.  Also, on a Sunday?  Really?]

Lots of good stuff going on over at The Brew Works lately.  They’re having a Samuel Smith beer dinner on September 15th for $63 (includes tax/tip).  They’ll be pairing four courses with eight beers, four from Brew Works and four from Samuel Smith.  They’re also doing a craft beer bus tour of Brew Works, Weyerbacher, and Triumph for $65.  Last, but certainly not least, Lew Bryson will be hosting Bourbon, Beer, and Bryson again this year.  Last year’s event was fantastic and featured some great one-off beers as well as some great bourbon and lectures.  The event is October 22nd…make sure you get there.

The Keystone Pub over in Bethlehem will be holding a car wash starting at 11am on August 28th for the family of deceased Freemansburg police officer Robert Lasso.

Events in Easton overall are weak, Bethlehem seems to do a much better job with organizing and pulling events off. Of course they have more practice as the seem to be doing something pretty much EVERY weekend.
