Top Craft Beer Luminaries to Speak at Meeting of the Malts V in Bethlehem

In what has become an annual pilgrimage for those in the know in the Pennsylvania craft beer world, the Meeting of the Malts is hosting its fifth iteration this Thursday, March 24th at the Artsquest Center at Steelstacks in Bethlehem.  Jim Koch, founder of Samuel Adams, Dick Yuengling, president of Yuengling, and Ken Grossman, founder of Sierra Nevada Brewing, will all be in attendance for a discussion panel on the future of craft beer.

From 5:30-7pm the event will kick off with a Pennsylvania beer festival, showcasing brews from Penn Brewery, ZerOday Brewing, Susquehanna Brewing Co, Berwick Brewing Co, Lion Brewery, Old Forge Brewing Co, The Brew Gentlemen Beer Co, Voodoo Brewery, Stoudt’s, Barley Creek, Yards, Rusty Rail, Brew Works, Iron Hill, and Dock Street.  Tickets for just the beer tasting can be purchased for $35 per person.

Following the beer tasting, a dinner and panel discussion with Dick Yuengling, Jim Koch, and Ken Grossman will be emceed by beverage industry consultant Bump Williams. Dinner is $85 per person and includes:
1) Opening pint and toast with Hijinx Brewing’s Kung Fu Gnome.
2) Spicy tuna roll served with the new Sierra Nevada Otra Vez
3) Whiskey-smoked pork belly served over cajun dirty rice with Yuengling IPL
4) Jerk chicken and savory waffle served with Samuel Adams Nitro Belgian White
5) Flourless chocolate cake with beer caramel sauce and Yuengling vanilla ice cream, served with Weyerbacher Tiny

There will also be a silent auction for various unique and collectible brewerania items, and all attendees will receive a Meeting of the Malts V commemorative glass.

Afterwards attendees can hit up the ‘Prohibition Party’ at the Sands Casino which features light appetizers, desserts, and drinks.  Tickets for the Prohibition Party are $40 per person.
