New Weyerbacher IPA and Whiskey Barrel-Aged Brews

by theelvee_w2oe3m

Earlier today Easton brewery Weyerbacher announced the winner of their IPA experiement from last year.  Various IPAs were brewed in small test batches and distributed throughout the Lehigh Valley and Philadelphia last year.  Imbibers could leave notes on cards collected by Weyerbacher or post on their website with their thoughts on the various beers.

They decided to go with their Crimson IPA, a take on an overly-hoppy West Coast-style IPA.  The beer will be named Last Chance IPA in a nod to animal rescue initiatives.  A portion of every bottle and keg sold will be donated to an animal rescue organization that will rotate monthly among employee-chosen organizations.  The beer comes in at 5.9% and utilizes Centennial, Cascade, Simcoe, and Columbus hops.

Weyerbacher will also be releasing their latest brew in their Brewer’s Select series.  These beers are brewed in small batches and only available on draft in area bars and at the brewery (although some bottles usually make their way to Abe’s).  Using the phonetic alphabet for their names, the series is now up to Whiskey.  And what else would you make for a beer named Whiskey?  A whiskey-barrel aged beer, of course.  Check the label below:
