Artsquest, partnering with Philly alt station Radio 104.5 announced Tuesday evening that the psychedelic rock outfit MGMT will be headlining Musikfest on August 5th.
MGMT first broke out in 2008 with their singles Kids and Time to Pretend. Their first album, Oracular Spectacular, is certified gold. Their sophomore album Congratulations came out in 2010. The band is currently working on their third album and are expected to release it late in 2012 as well as debut new material in their upcoming tour dates.
The concert is the first headlining act that Artsquest has promoted with the help of Radio 104.5, opting usually for stations in the Lehigh Valley. This cooperation could bring in big crowds from the Philadelphia area. Time will tell, and probably soon. Artsquest’s Nowadays festival is being promoted with the station as well. Tickets are $35 to $45 and will go on sale to the public on March 30th.
