Bear Creek Hosting Wine Dinner, Festival, Tastings This Weekend

This weekend Bear Creek will be flowing with wine.  Not only are they hosting their annual Spring Wine and Food Festival, but they also have a wine dinner and a poolside Port tasting as well.

Friday Night, April 13th, the resort is hosting a wine dinner featuring French and Italian wines paired with a four course meal.  The dinner is $75 per person and tickets must be purchased online in advance.  The menu:

First Course
Passed hors d’oeuvrs
Crispy Crab Cakes with Basil Aioli
Golden Beet with Blue Cheese Mousse and Pickled Cauliflower
Gaufrette Potato with Smoked Trout Salad and Caviar

Wines:  Sparkling French vs Italian Prosecco
Simonnet-Febvre Cremant de Bourgogne
Lamberti Prosecco, Veneto, Italy

Second Course
Shellfish Duo
Mussel & Roasted Tomato Soup
Warm Oyster Stew with Leeks, Corn, Chives, Puff Pastry

Wines: Loire Valley France vs. Marche
Roc De Chateauvieux Vouvray
Umani Ronchi Verdicchio

Third Course
Blackberry-marinated duck with white grit souffle and foie gras sauce

Wines: Burgundy vs. Piemonte
Domaine Faiveley Mercurey
Marchese Di Barolo Barbera D’Alba Ruvei

Fourth Course
Lemon-steamed pudding with fresh berries

Wines: Rhone Valley vs. Moscato

Saturday and Sunday the resort will host their Spring Wine & Food Festival each day from 1pm-5pm.  Regular admission tickets are $25 and get your into either the Saturday or Sunday tasting and the afternoon seminars.  VIP tickets are $40 and get you into either the Saturday or Sunday tasting as well as the morning and afternoon seminars.  Designated driver tickets are $5 per person. 

Saturday will feature the Grand Tasting with a gourmet tasting on Sunday.  Wineries participating include A’Dello, Antler Ridge, Blue Mountain, Boyd’s Cardinal Hollow, Cherry Valley Vineyards, Flickerwood, Franklin Hills, Hidden Creek, Kog Hill, Naylor, Paradocx, Peace Valley, Sand Castle, Shade Mountain, Stonekeep, Tamanend, University, and Vynecrest.  Serving up food for the weekend will be BAD farms, City 2 Shore Gourmet, Fathead Peppers, Happy Jalapeno Company, JD Gourmet, Kelly’s Candy, Secret Essence by Barb, Sugar and Spice, Sweet Addictions, Tastefully Simple, Clover Creek Cheese Cellar, Dove Chocolates & Do You Bake, Sweets by Samantha, and the Daily Loaf.

Seminars for weekend include Wine 101, health benefits of wine, making your own wine, Q&A sessions glassware selection, raising your own grapes, cheese, cocktail mixing, and cooking with wine.  Bands Jeff Umbehauer, Red, and Steve Brosky & Jimmy Meyer will provide background music for the event on Sunday.

After the Saturday tasting Bear Creek is hosting a poolside Port tasting for $15 per person.  Attendees will taste 4-5 different types of port paired with chocolate, nuts, figs, and cheese.  The tasting runs from 6-7pm and music my Jim Meck will follow afterwards.
