    Wine Schools Coming Up

    There’s a few Wine School classes coming up at two local bars.  If you’re looking for something to do tonight, Starter’s Riverport is hosting its monthly WineScool class.  Typically the fourth Wednesday of the month (different this month due to holidays), it features a four course dinner for $35 in advance or $40 with no reservation.  The fun starts at 7pm and the menu is below:

    1st Course
    duck potstickers with soy-lime sauce
    Ravenswood Sonoma Merlot

    2nd Course
    coconut curry soup with sesame cracker
    Hogue Genesis Chardonnay

    3rd Course
    stewed garam masala chicken thigh and jasmine rice
    (chicken stewed with tomato, coconut milk, chic pea, lime, green onion and cilantro)
    Leasingham Bin 61

    4th Course
    pistachio ice cream with butter cookie, topped with sesame seeds and honey
    Chateau Coutet Sauternes

    Brew Works on the Green is also starting to host a wine school this winter.  They have a few already planned out such as wine & cheese pairing, price point wine exploration, wine & chocolate pairing, and a horizontal tasting.  Full info on the classes:

    Love is…Wine & Chocolate
    February 11th
    7:30-9:30PM
    $50 per person

    A “Pre-Valentine’s Day” event perfect for couples…and singles!
    Four selections served with a three course chocolate inspired menu. We’ll discuss the joy of seclecting the right wine for for each step of the evening: cocktail hour, appetizer, entrée, and dessert.

    “Horizontal” Tasting and Exploration
    March 10th
    7:30-9:30PM
    $25 per person

    Artisan Cheese Plates
    Exploring particular varietals from a single year, but produced by different vineyards/regions.
