It’s busy times yet again down at the Weyerbacher brewery in Easton. The most exciting news by far is the release of Idiot’s Drool on November 17th. This is their regular Blithering Idiot barleywine aged in bourbon for an insane 4.5 years and innoculated with wild brettanomyces yeast. It’s going to be $23 a bottle and there’s a limit of six. Because of PA’s insane alcohol laws, you must buy a case of beer. This means you can get six Idiot’s Drool and six other bottles in a case, or mix/match as you please. The other bottles they’ll have available to mix into your case are Double Simcoe, Merry Monks, and their recently released (and absolutely delicious) Rapture. For the Rapture release there was also a ridiculously awesome bottle share in the parking lot, so bring a sampler glass, grab a bottle from your beer cellar (or a nice bottle from Abe’s) and head on down.
Weyerbacher is also set to release the next in their Brewer’s Select Series. The latest out was Sierra, a milk stout. This next one, Tango, will be a Belgian dark ale brewed with cherries. Label is below.
And last, but certainly not least, The Trapp Door in Emmaus is holding a Weyerbacher beer dinner on November 2nd. It’s $60 for five courses paired with five beers. Weyerbacher jack-of-all-trades Bill Bragg will be hosting the dinner which will feature Verboten, Autumnfest, Old Heathe, Imperial Pumpkin and Double Simcoe.
