Restaurant News for April 7th, 2011

Christine’s Secret Garden storefront in Easton, owned by Christine Stazo,  is closing.  The good news is you’ll still be able to find her teas around the valley.  Quadrant Book Mart and Coffee House serves and sells the tea and accessories, as well as Just Around the Corner.  The Historic Bethlehem Partnership has ordered some custom blends, as well as sells tea accessories.  Tallarico’s has about 25 teas with accessories and will be rereleasing tea-infused truffles (oh hell yeah).  You can also find her through the LV Food Co-op.  Ms. Stazo said that foot traffic has been light in the Easton location but not enough to justify having a storefront any longer.  She dismissed any rumors that she may be moving to a different location or city.

Props to The Morning Call for picking up the story that Rookie’s in Allentown shut down last night and to the commenters who had the info on why.  It looks like owner Bill Smedile packed up shop after selling the location.  No word back from Mr. Smedile yet, however the location may not be open for a while as no liquor license transfer has been put in yet, according to PLCB records.

The old Lonestar location on Grape Street in Whitehall that was bought out by the Keystone Pub is going to be similar to the existing pub, only on a much larger scale, featuring around 40 taps and a large bottle selection, according to rumors.  So far there’s no plan on file with Whitehall Township yet according to a zoning officer.
