What to Do on this Halloween Weekend

    by theelvee_w2oe3m October 28, 2011

So here’s a rundown of some of the better goings-on this weekend:

    Friday:
Funhouse – If you’re looking for a party Friday night, The Funhouse in Bethlehem might be one of the best spots having something.  The Pedestrians will be providing the musc.  Most of the good stuff is on Saturday, but if you’re desperate this is where you should hit.  They’re also having “spider cider”.  Sounds dangerous.

The Wooden Match – The Wooden Match is handing out free cigars (La Gerencia Cubana Oscuro Fuertes) to the first 75 in the door at 6pm and has Southern Tier Pumpking, Smuttynose, Flying Dog, and Wolavers pumpkin beer on tap.

    Saturday:

Wine Tasting – As you’re working off Friday night’s hangover, stop by the Clover Hill booth at the Allentown Farmer’s Market for some Whitman’s Cinnamon and nutmeg crustes-cheese paired with their spiced apple wine.  They’ll also have turkey and stuffing meatballs in cranberry sauce paired with their Turtle Rock Red.  Free samples?  Alrighty then.

Molly’s – Last year Molly’s was a good party for Halloween.  This year Molly’s will be the pregame spot for later festivities.  Get here early.

Masquerade Ball – This seems to be the biggest party going on this weekend.  Tickets to get in are $10 and they’re doing a noisy, drunken parade from Molly’s down to the Comfort Suites where this is being held.

Funhouse – A better night to hit The Funhouse than Friday, the Great White Caps will be playing.  This was also a great time last year and the music is fantastic as well.

Black & Blue – Easton craft beer spot Black & Blue is holding a party starting at 4pm.  If you’re familiar with their previous spot, Witch Brew, you’ll know they take their Halloween shit seriously.  Costumes are required, and their Facebook invite threatens those who don’t show up in costume to being decorated with props as the staff sees fit.

Cocktail Party – If you’re looking for a little bit more low key of a time, Vintage in Easton is having a cocktail party from 5-7pm.  $10 and a costume gets you in.  They’ll have themed drinks, apple punch, and hors d’oeuvres.

Day of the Dead – There’s some sort of Day of the Dead thing going on in Allentown at the 500 block of 7th Street.  Not too much info out there, but it starts at 5 and goes until 9.  There’ll be a lot of traditional style Dia De Los Muertos stuff there as waell as fire dancers, face painters, food, etc.

    October 6, 2011

Well another Celtic Classic has come and gone, and luckily the rain didn’t hamper too much this year. The Celtic Cultural Alliance reported that event though there was torrential rain on Friday, sales were steady throughout the festival. We’re glad, because a year without beer and haggis is a year we don’t want to live in. So, how was it?
