Patton Oswalt, Galactic, and More to Headline the Musikfest Cafe

    by theelvee_w2oe3m May 23, 2012

A variety of performers have been announced to headline the Musikfest Cafe at Artsquest.

A NOLA funk/jam band, Galactic, will perform at the center on August 16th.  Performing since 1994, the group infuses a variety of influences into their music ranging from hip hop and rock to electro and blues.  The band also popped up recently on the Conan O’ Brien Show.  Their newest studio release, Carnivale Electricos, was released earlier this year.  Tickets are $20 to $25.

Nashville bluegrass artist Kathy Mattea, a two-time Grammy Award-winning artist, will be at the Musikfest Café on September 18th.  Mattea has produced three number one hits with her songs Goin’ Gone, Eighteen Wheels and a Dozen Roses, and Come From the Heart.  Tickets to her show range from $40 to $50.

Popular comedian Patton Oswalt is set to hit the stage at Artsquest’s Musikfest Café for two shows on September 28th.  Oswalt has a notable acting career, with his most famous role being that of Spence Olchin on the former CBS series King of Queens.  His stand-up features a range of topics from pop culture to political and religious ideals.  He recently performed in the feature film Young Adult and released a comedy CD last year that hit #1 on the US Comedy charts and #71 in the Billboard Top 200.  He will take the stage at 7:30pm and 10:30pm.  Tickets are $39 in advance and $44 the day of the show.

Jersey rockers The Smithereens are coming to Bethlehem on October 18th.  The band, dating back to the 80’s, play a captivating and catchy rock pop set that garnered the band some attention on MTV.  Their most notable work came in 1990 when their single A Girl Like You hit #41 on the Billboard pop chart.  Their latest album, 2011, was released in….2011.  Tickets are $30 to $40.

Awesome Scottish folk rock band Enter the Haggis is playing the center on November 24th.  A frequent staple of Musikfest and Philly festivals, they play an upbeat and entertaining set.  Tickets are $25 to $30.

All shows go on sale Friday, June 1st.
