County Seat Spirits, a New Distillery, to Open in Allentown

    by theelvee_w2oe3m June 30, 2014July 1, 2014

The Allentown Economic Development Corporation announced today that County Seat Spirits, a new distillery, will open in its Bridgeworks Enterprise Center in the coming months.  The distillery is part of the AEDC’s business incubation program.

The distillery is cofounded by Anthony Brichta and John Rowe.  In a press release, Rowe said, “The timing is right for us to get established in a growing industry and to be part of the revival of craft distilling in Pennsylvania.”  The distillery will now spend the next few months going through a process of acquiring the proper licensing and equipment. Once in operation, they will produced aged and unaged whiskies, gin, rum, and vodka.  A tasting room and tours will be available for consumers to sample spirits and learn about the distillation process.

County Seat will be one of the first distilleries to open in the Lehigh Valley.  As we previously reported, Franklin Hill Vineyards is currently in the process of procuring a license to distill.  The distillery joins two other alcohol manufacturers in the Bridgeworks Enterprise Center.  The Colony Meadery, which opened last year, produces honey wine, and Hijinx Brewing Company is currently setting up a new brewery after moving from a smaller location.
