Bar Louie to Open in Former Shula’s Location

    by theelvee_w2oe3m June 4, 2015

Bar Louie, a chain restaurant headquartered in Texas, is moving into the space the Shula’s Steakhouse left behind at the Promenade Shops in Center Valley when they moved to Allentown, an official from Bar Louie confirmed.

The bar, which describes itself as “an eclectic urban bar with warm surroundings,” has 94 locations throughout the country, with the closest located in Bensalem and the Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.  The food menu includes a sprawling variety of appetizers, from meatballs to Bavarian pretzels to potstickers, flatbreads, burgers, sandwiches, entrees, and desserts.

The bar, obviously, is well-stocked with signature martinis (like the R&R, with Hendrick’s, watermelon syrup, lemon juice, and cucumber), classic (Manhattan) and modern (coconut mint lemonade) cocktails, wine, and craft beer.

A representative from the company said that they hope to start construction within the next month.  Shula’s who was sued for over $1.7 million in an alleged contract breach over its move to Allentown, settled the lawsuit out of court.  Shula’s closed at the Promenade Shops over Memorial Day Weekend and is slated to reopen in downtown Allentown at the end of the month.

    December 23, 2009January 19, 2011

Robata of Tokyo is a fairly well-known Japanese sushi restaurant situated a stone’s throw from the iconic PP&L building in downtown Allentown. Not only does it provide for a nice, relaxed atmosphere, the food is prepared particularly well, however the atmosphere may be lacking a few qualities.

    Review: Starfish Brasserie

    by theelvee_w2oe3m December 2, 2009January 19, 2011
    December 2, 2009January 19, 2011

The Starfish Brasserie is smack dab in downtown Bethlehem and is just one of the fine restaurants that can be found in the area. Starfish, as well as Edge and Apollo Grille are what I have always considered to be the triangle of upscale dining in Bethlehem, yet for some reason I never made the trip. After seeing on Starfish’s Twitter that they were doing a special $45, 3 course meal with wine pairings for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness, I decided it would be the perfect time to visit.

By now, if you’ve got friends that are part of the “in crowd” with the restaurant scene, you’ve heard of the Bookstore. News about this new bar has spread like wildfire, so…
