According to multiple sources, Carmel Café and Wine Bar is opening at the former Mangos Coastal Cuisine at 3750 Hamilton Blvd in Allentown. The restaurant, a chain based out of Tampa, serves Mediterranean fusion food like hummus, flatbreads, salads, chicken skewers, and seafood, among other items.
The chain has been expanding throughout Florida and opened an outpost near Philadelphia, in Wayne, last year. The chain has garnered press for its use of MenuPad, an iPad-based interactive menu and ordering system. According to a Tampa Bay Times report, MenuPad is owned by Chris Sullivan, the co-founder of Outback Steakhouse, who is also a founding partner in the Carmel Café chain. The restaurant is expected to open sometime in the fall.
