Dear Christ, Artsquest is hosting an event called Bacontopia.
As if bacon-flavored vodka and toothpaste weren’t enough, Bethlehem is going to get its own little taste of porkageddon in the form of Artsquest’s new “annual” (please, don’t) Bacontopia event.
Taking place from 1pm to 4pm on November 10th, Bacontopia will feature ten different bacon dishes. Sweet & spicy roasted bacon, bacon fries, bacon breakfast napoleon, cream of bacon soup (ugh), bacon burger sliders, and spicy pork belly (yes please) are all on the docket. And then there’s the heinous bacon lollipops, bacon cupcakes, and yes, dark chocolate and bacon ice cream for dessert.
A butcher will be present offering recipe ideas. John Callahan (no, not the outgoing mayor of Bethlehem, but a Yuengling brewmaster) will also be there to offer Yuengling beer pairing ideas for bacon. Considering Yuengling has all of seven different beers, and all of them are fairly plain, we suggest the following pairing: cook bacon in something that isn’t a bastardization of the meat (see: bacon lollipops) and crack a Yuengling, any Yuengling, to accompany.
A band called, we shit you not, The Three Little Pigs, will be playing music while the TVs will be screening football games (pigskin, get it?). If you eat all 10 bacon dishes you will be entered into a drawing to win a free trip to the closest cardiac rehabilitation facility free tickets to a Musikfest Café show.
Tickets are $35 and go on sale September 13th at 10am.
