    Sands Announces Five New Shows

    by theelvee_w2oe3m December 17, 2013

The Sands Bethlehem Event Center announced five new shows this week for their 2014 line-up.

Three Doors Down, whose 2000 breakout hit “Kryptonite” launched them to the top of the charts, will be performing an acoustic set on Wednesday, February 12th.  The band’s last studio album, Time of My Life, came out in 2011 and hit #3 on the US charts.  They also released a greatest hits album late last year and played the Sands earlier in the year.  Tickets for the show are $35.50 to $59.50.

NBC’s The Sing-Off will be bringing a few of its a cappella singers to the venue on Thursday, February 27th.  The show will announce the four person group that will headline the tour on Monday, December 23rd’s episode.  The group will join other finalists and competitors on the tour which will feature solo performances, group numbers, and sing-offs (of course).  Tickets for the show are $29.50 to $55.50.

Huey Lewis and the News will return to the Lehigh Valley (they last played Musikfest in 2012) on March 21st.  The band had a streak of hits in the 80’s off of its albums Sports  and Fore!.  The band has taken many large breaks from releasing studio albums, with releases in 1994, 2001, and 2010.  Tickets for the show are $49 to $75.

The Robert Cray Band and Mavis Staples will co-headline a show at the center on Friday, March 28th.  Cray, a prolific blues musician, released Nothin But Love last year, which peaked at #2 on the blues charts.  Staples, who won a Grammy in 2011, released her 13th studio album this year, One True Vine, produced by Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy.  Tickets for the show are $35 to $49.50.

Reba McEntire will hit the stage on Sunday, May 18th at the Sands.  One of the most famous country stars in the past few decades, McEntire has released a dizzying amount of albums, starred in her own hit TV shows, and performed on Broadway.  Tickets for her show range from $99.50 to $129.50.

Tickets for all shows go on sale Friday, December 20th at 10am.
