Subarashii Kudamono, the Asian pear grower based in Coopersburg, is releasing a new dry pear wine.  The wine will be available for free sampling on Friday, May 2nd from 4pm to 6pm at the PA Wine & Spirits Store at the Promenade Shops in Center Valley.

The wine is created using only one varietal of Asian pear, a proprietary version known as SuSan.  According to the company, the pear is usually sweet, but the resulting wine is surprisingly dry.  They liken the flavor to that of vinho verde and sauv blancs.  It is available at 70 Premium Collection PLCB stores across the state in a typical 750ml bottle.  It clocks in at 11% ABV and retails for $17.99.
